
Cannon Michael
Cannon Michael is the sixth-generation steward of a 165-year-old family farming operation in Los Banos, California. A graduate of UC Berkeley, he joined Bowles Farming Company in 1998 and has served as President and CEO since 2014. He leads a diversified farming business producing more than 20 organic and conventional crops while advancing regenerative soil practices, expanding organic production, investing in on-farm composting, and supporting employee development and farmworker education.
Cannon is an active leader in California water policy. He serves as Chairman of the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority, President of the San Luis Canal Company, and Director of the San Joaquin River Exchange Contractors Water Authority. He also serves on the boards of the Water Education Foundation and the Public Policy Institute of California’s Water Policy Center.
Across his work, Cannon advocates for practical, science-based water management that supports communities, agriculture, and the environment.
